At Kansas City, Missouri, Alberto Callaspo’s RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning helped Kansas City snap a six-game losing streak.

Toronto had taken a 5-4 lead in the top of the inning when Fred Lewis scored on Jose Bautista’s single off Kyle Farnsworth (3-0).

Scott Podsednik led off the bottom of the 10th with a triple and scored on Jason Kendall’s sacrifice fly to tie it. Blue Jays closer Kevin Gregg (0-4) suffered his third blown save in 25 opportunities.

With two outs, Gregg walked Billy Butler and Jose Guillen . Callaspo singled up the middle to win it.

Yunel Escobar homered with two outs in the second. He has homered in consecutive games and has seven RBIs in that span.

John Buck , who spent the previous six seasons with the Royals, made it 3-1 in the seventh with an RBI single.

At Detroit, Nelson Cruz’s two-run homer in the 14th inning gave Texas the win in a game that was marred by two injuries and finally ended in the rain two minutes before midnight.

Detroit lost its sixth straight game despite two home runs from Miguel Cabrera .

The win snapped Texas’ 11-game losing streak at Comerica Park.

The game had a scary moment in the sixth inning when Rangers reliever Dustin Nippert was hit in the head by Austin Jackson’s line drive. The ball landed in left field for a double as Texas players, coaches and trainers raced toward the mound. Nippert quickly sat up and walked off the field under his own power.

Detroit lost third baseman Brandon Inge for 4-6 weeks after he broke his left hand when he was hit by a pitch from Scott Feldman in the third inning.

Matt Harrison (2-1) got out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the bottom of the 11th. In the 12th, the Rangers put runners on the corners with two outs, but Julio Borbon flied out to end the inning.

Cruz finally ended it with a shot just inside the right-field pole off Enrqiue Gonzalez (0-1).

Harrison threw four shutout innings of relief and Neftali Feliz pitched a rainy 14th for his 25th save.

At Minneapolis, Trevor Crowe drove in two runs and had a career-high four hits, and Cleveland collected a season-high 20 hits in its fifth straight win.

Crowe and Jason Donald both drove in two runs to help the Indians start the second half 5-0 for the first time in history.

Scott Baker (7-9) surrendered 10 hits in 4 2-3 innings for Minnesota. After winning three out of four games from the first-place Chicago White Sox to cut the division lead to 1 1/2 games over the weekend, the Twins fell flat. They lost to Aaron Laffey (2-3) and an Indians team, which began the day 12 1/2 games back in the AL Central despite an inspired four-game sweep of Detroit out of the break.

At Oakland, California, Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched two-hit ball into the seventh inning and Adrian Beltre homered to help Boston snap Oakland’s five-game winning streak.

Eric Patterson tripled and scored against his former team as the Red Sox got off to a strong start on their 10-game West Coast road trip. Boston had lost eight of 11 heading into the trip that continues in Seattle and Anaheim.

Ben Sheets (4-9) put together another solid outing for the A’s, allowing two runs and seven hits in 6 2-3 innings.

Matsuzaka (7-3) has won consecutive starts after going more than a month without a win.

Jonathan Papelbon pitched a perfect ninth for his 21st save in 24 opportunities.

The A’s, coming off a three-game sweep in Kansas City, were looking to move above .500 for the first time since June 11.

At Seattle, Alex Rios hit a go-ahead, two-run homer and had three RBIs as first-place Chicago rebounded from perhaps their toughest defeat of the season to end a three-game losing streak.

The White Sox blew a three-run lead in ninth inning of a 7-6 loss at Minnesota on Sunday.

Daniel Hudson (1-0) struck out a career-high six while allowing five hits and one run in 6 2-3 innings. Andruw Jones , subbing in right field while Carlos Quentin rested his bruised thumb, homered ahead of Gordon Beckham’s RBI double in the eighth inning, and Chicago increased its lead in the AL Central to a season-high 2 1/2 games over Detroit and Minnesota.

The Mariners lost for the 13th time in 16 games. They are 21 games under .500 (36-57), equaling their season low.
