The woman, speaking through her lawyer, said she wants to be reunited with her son and daughter.

“On arrival at King Abulaziz International Airport after a weekend vacation abroad, the man took his wife’s passport and the written permission he gave her to travel abroad and escaped to an Arab country,” the lawyer told Arab News on condition of anonymity.

He said the woman wanted a new passport to be able to travel to her husband’s new home and bring back her children, whom she has not seen for three months.

According to the lawyer, the husband had swindled about SR25 million from a number of people by promising to invest their money in bogus ventures.

“The victims filed lawsuits against him but he managed to escape before he was arrested,” he said.

The woman claimed that her husband had invited her to spend a weekend vacation in a neighboring Arab country.

According to her, when they came back, not only did he seize her passport, but he also took the children from their schools after his brother picked them up.

The woman also said she will file a lawsuit against the school that let her son go with her brother-in-law.

“Her son is disabled. He is not allowed to go out of the school unless with his mother or her sister. The school gave him to his uncle. It should not have done this,” the lawyer said.

He added that the woman wanted to travel to the Arab country in order to reclaim her SR500,000 apartment that her husband had confiscated. 

He also said his client had to quit her bank job because of her situation.

The woman has appointed a legal representative in the country where her husband is staying in anticipation of a custody battle over her children and to reclaim her apartment. This lawyer has advised her to attend the court sessions that will consider the case against her husband, which is why she needs a new passport.
