- RIYADH: The CEO of the World Gold Council (WGC) will this week meet with representatives of Saudi Arabia's gold industry and government leaders as part of the organization's ongoing strategy to develop the gold market in the country.
Aram Shishmanian will be joined by Ajay Mitra, managing director of the Middle East, India and Turkey, and Saudi Arabia Country Manager Bisher Diab.
The visit follows a number of initiatives to support the development of the gold market, which have been successfully implemented by the WGC in collaboration with long-standing industry partners within the country.
During this visit, the WGC hopes to identify new areas for product development and fresh initiatives, helping to create enduring value for the gold market.
Shishmanian will meet with head of Jeddah's jewelers Jamil Farsi and head of Jeddah's Goldsmiths Faidhi Al-Hashdi.
He will also see Ali Al-Kindi, member of the National Gold Jewelry Committee and deputy head of Jeddah's Goldsmiths, and Krayyem Al-Enzi, head of the National Gold and Jewelry Committee, as well as other industry leaders.
The trip will also include visits to Taiba Gold Market, Hijab Gold Souk and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Riyadh, the famous Al-Yamama Commercial & Gold Center in Jeddah, the Mall of Arabia and the Chamber of Commerce & Industry in Jeddah.
"Saudi Arabia has and continues to be an important gold market in the region," said Shishmanian.
The WGC is also working to co-deliver seminars in Jeddah and Riyadh with the gold and jewelry committees and co-launch a new website for Jeddah Gate of Gold.
