JEDDAH: Acting on information provided by citizens and expatriates, Jeddah police successfully carried out a massive security campaign over the past three days during which 32 suspects involved in various criminal cases and 928 illegal foreigners were detained, director of police Maj. Gen. Ali bin Muhamamd Al-Saadi Al-Ghamdi announced on Friday.

He asked all residents of Jeddah, whether nationals or expatriates, to cooperate with police by reporting crimes they witness.

“Citizens and expatriates are partners with the police in preserving the safety and security of the city and its residents,” he said.

Acting spokesman of the police First Lt. Nawwaf Al-Bouq said the campaign targeted low-income areas where illegal residents tend to reside.

Crimes that were thwarted included theft, the selling of drugs and the production of alcoholic beverages.
