- RIYADH: A Saudi citizen took out a bank loan to pay off his traffic fines so he could be issued with a driver’s license for the first time in his life — despite not being liable for most of the penalties.
The total debts he had accrued over the last six years was over SR23,000, while it only cost him SR400 for the license. The man had committed numerous traffic violations even though he was not holding a driving license at the time, but most of them were erroneously issued to him. The Traffic Department mentioned that an investigation would be opening soon and that the issue would be dealt with immediately.
