"The increasing mobile-phone penetration and the Kingdom's huge investment in ICT sector contributed a great deal to the growth," Khalid Kefel, general manager of the Middle East Research in Motion (RIM), said here at a press conference held to launch the latest BlackBerry Torch 9800 in the Kingdom.

Kefel pointed out that the Kingdom's 27 million population which comprises majority of youths and their eagerness to adapt themselves to the changing technological revolution were the other factors that drove the Kingdom to reach a top position in the smart-phone market in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

A separate launch was held in Riyadh for women businessmen and journalists.

Mohamed Al-Mefleh, director of product management for Blackberry described the launch as an important event in the annals of the Blackberry since the new addition fulfills all the requirements of the mobile-phone users.
