- JEDDAH: The Jeddah Islamic Port was closed for several hours after a 32-year-old Saudi shopkeeper stabbed to death a 22-year-old customs clearance officer on Saturday night.
- The shopkeeper stabbed the official following an argument and fist fight.
“The murderer tried to run away and hide among the crowds at the port, but security guards closed the gates and police were called in to find the man,” said First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq, spokesman for Jeddah police.
“The man was arrested by police officers within a short time and handed over to the custody of the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution. He will be brought before a judge once investigations are concluded,” he added.
