RIYADH: Police arrested a man for the possession of drugs and liquor, but only after a high-speed car chase. A police unit attempted to stop his car east of the capital city.
However, the driver took off and police chased him. The driver was later cornered in one of the streets and arrested. Police found liquor boxes inside the car and some drugs. The vehicle was also registered in someone else’s name. The man was already wanted by police for a number of crimes.
JEDDAH: The Jeddah passport department arrested 44 overstayers in a raid on Al-Salama district. The arrested were of Somali and Ethiopian nationality.
The passport department said that they will continue raids to arrest overstayers and urged citizens to cooperate with authorities and report their locations.
TAIF: Taif police mobilized its forces to search for a man who was reportedly murdered on a highway outside the city on Monday, only to find the whole thing was a setup. Taif police deployed their forces after they received an emergency call.
The search continued for hours, but no one was found. Later on police realized that the call was a hoax. Police said that they would trace the source of the call and arrest the caller. Investigations revealed that the caller is of African nationality and that he might be an overstayer who was trying to divert police attention away from other illegal residents.
JAZAN: Two men were killed and two others injured when a car driving at high speed lost control and crashed in Najran. Civil Defense forces and police arrived at the scene and found one man dead and three trapped inside the car. Police freed them, although one of them later died at hospital.
JEDDAH: The killer of a 22-year-old customs officer at a port has been transferred to the general prosecution and investigation board after his confession was authenticated.
The killer stabbed the victim on Saturday night, killing him. He tried to run away and hide among the crowds at the port, but security guards closed the gates and police were called in to find the man. He was later arrested.
