- MADINAH: Two Saudi female teachers died and five others were injured when the car they were in collided into the back of a truck parked on the side of the Madinah-Tabuk highway on Tuesday morning.
Civil Defense teams rushed to the location and found all six teachers trapped inside the car along with the driver. The Civil Defense managed to free everyone inside, but two of the teachers had already succumbed to their injuries.
A Red Crescent air ambulance airlifted the surviving four teachers and driver to Madinah’s King Fahd Hospital; their condition is said to be serious. Police believe that the driver might have fallen asleep and collided into the back of the truck. The accident is still being investigated.
Road accidents involving teachers and students who commute long distances are common as drivers often fall asleep at the wheel.
