“This assistance has greatly mitigated the sufferings of victims,” he said in a letter to Adnan Khalil Basha, secretary-general of IIROSA. He added that the relief material sent by IIROSA, which consisted of large quantities of foodstuffs, medicines, medical equipment and tents, were distributed in remote regions and scattered villages and hamlets.

Basha recalled that IIROSA has provided flood victims in Pakistan during the past few months with 9,000 food baskets benefiting 70,000 victims in a number of towns and villages in Sind province.

He said the organization sent another consignment of relief material consisting of 4,000 food baskets and 1,300 cartons of dates, and a third one containing a similar amount of food and 400 tents which benefited 4,400 families in Punjab province.

IIROSA has made a distinct presence in Pakistan where it has sponsored 1,250 orphans. It has also carried out its “Iftar Sayem” project in which more than 80,000 fasting men and women were provided with food to break their fasts, and the “Adahi” program in which sacrificial meat was distributed to over 50,000 people.

IIROSA has helped the victims of earthquakes in Baluchistan and supplied them with 4,000 food baskets, 4,000 covers and 600 tents.

In Sarhad province, 5,000 food baskets, 5,000 covers and 1,100 tents were distributed benefiting more than 5,200 families. It also distributed 100 tents, 1,000 blankets, 2,750 covers and 3,750 food baskets among Afghan refugees in Pakistan of which 3,700 families benefited.

IIROSA has extended various support to Al-Athariya University for Girls as well as to the Badr Hospital and Al-Khaleej Health Center which provided medical care to more than 64,200 male and female patients. It has executed a patient safety program in a number of hospitals and helped raise the preparedness of hospitals to deal with natural disasters.
