- RIYADH: A Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) employee died and three others were injured as a result of a fire that engulfed the company’s eighth gas-powered electricity generation plant here Saturday.
Ali bin Saleh Al-Barrak, CEO of company, said the employee died while trying to put out the fire that broke out at the plant’s fuel pump.
“His death is a big loss to our company,” the CEO said. He also conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
He said the fuel pump was undergoing regular maintenance. He expressed his deep sorrow over the incident and wished quick recovery for the injured men.
Meanwhile, the SEC announced on Saturday that it was implementing power projects worth SR3 billion in the northern Tabuk province.
He said the Tabuk power plant’s capacity would be expanded at a cost of SR350 million.
