“There are chances for thunderous rains in many areas of the Kingdom,” PME spokesman Hussain Al-Qahtani said.

He expected temperatures to rise along the western coast, with active surface winds that may limit vision in certain parts of the Kingdom.

Jeddah witnessed intermittent rains all day and night on Wednesday.

The rains were heavy in southern parts of Jeddah, as well as in areas east of Haramain Expressway, but were light to medium in other parts of the city. Rains left large water pools in a number of districts and roads in Jeddah, especially in the south and center of the city.

Medical sources said there were no weather-related deaths or injuries. They said medical teams and ambulances were alert and ready to deal with any emergencies.

The Civil Defense has, meanwhile, continued sending warning messages to residents on their mobile phones to stay away from valley passes and also areas that might be hit by thunderstorms.

There were heavy rains on Wednesday in the districts and villages between Jeddah and Makkah, particularly in Bahra and Wadi Fatima.

Jeddah-Makkah Expressway users told Arab News that traffic on the highway was smooth and that security officers were on patrol to deal with any emergency.
