This new proposal is intended to ease the transportation of goods and help shipping. Modon Director-General Tawfig Bin Fawzan Alrabiah said on Wednesday that Modon has signed an agreement with a foreign company, which will assist in the three-month study project.

Alrabiah said that the study will provide adequate information that will serve the basis for connecting industrial cities and for establishing new ports in some industrial cities.

Referring to the project, Abdullah Al-Faris, a logistical service development official of Modon, said the linking will also help in carrying goods to and from the Kingdom's seaports of the Kingdom.  Modon currently oversees 20 industrial cities, which are operational in different cities of Saudi Arabia.

At present, more than 3,000 industrial projects are operational in the industrial cities of the

Kingdom. This represents 60 percent of the total Saudi factories with cumulative investments exceeding SR250 billion.
