Qatar Airways thus joins the growing list of corporate sponsors to support the club in trying to promote golf in the Kingdom by holding as many tournaments as possible.

Prizes in kind worth SR40,000 including air tickets are up for grabs in the 18-hole stroke play competition.

DGCC Golf Manager Bouchaib El Jadiani said 110 players have so far confirmed to come for the 8 a.m. shotgun start.

As usual, there will be three handicap categories (0-9, 10-18 and 19-28) in the men’s division to go with the ladies division (0-36).
 

Meantime, the Dirab Ladies Group on Tuesday organized the Sheraton Ladies Golf Cup to open 2011.

The team of Denise Holding, June Hee-kim, Myungoak Hwang-bo and Martine Himmesoete put together a sparkling net score of 59 to emerge the winner by two strokes in the four-person Texas Scramble tournament. Holding’s squad shot a gross 74 and played off 15 handicap.

The team captained by Paromita Mukherjee claimed second place on 61 from a gross 77 and 16 handicap. Roselyne de Parcevaux and Saida Oihabi were the other members of the team.

Four strokes further back in third place was Miki Park’s team which tallied 65 from a gross 80 and 15 handicap. With Miki on the squad were Christine Park, Weeseya Djurberg and Fauzia Shamim.

Team captain Flore Bouzanne, Inge Gueltling and Choi Kim took the fourth position on 66 from a gross 81 and 15 handicap.

The first two winners received Hotel La Piazza dinner vouchers and the last two Kaya Skin Clinic gift vouchers.  Salma Syriani, Weesaya Djurberg and Myungoak won the prizes of Skin Clinic voucher, La Piazza dinner voucher for two and golf bag in the raffle draw.

Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers General Manager Stuart Birkwood, Nadia Saadi Al-Haddad, Kaya Skin Clinic area manager, and Fahad Abunayyan, deputy GM of Abunayyan Group, attended the prize distribution ceremony.

The tournament was another fun day out on the course with rainshowers and alternating sunshine combining in the chilly weather.

Dirab Ladies Group team captain Bouzanne thanked the major sponsors Sheraton Riyadh Hotel & Towers and Kaya Skin Clinic and host Dirab during the prize-giving.
