The Jerusalem Center for Social and Economic Rights (JCSER) said the order includes the Alimelli Waqf, two mosques, a gas station and several buildings and stores in East Jerusalem.

The JCSER said Israeli authorities ordered Ziad Qawwas to evacuate their three dunams near the US Consulate in Nablus Street in the eastern part of the disputed city.

The center quoted Qawwas as saying the lands are registered as Islamic Waqf since 400 years. The Israeli Land Authority claims that the land is owned by it.

JCSER added that the Israeli-dominated Jerusalem municipality will build a trade center in the confiscated lands. It added that the new settlement project bears the number (A4832) and is ready for implementation.

The center notified of the paradox that the Israeli settlement expansion reached the vicinity of the US Consulate in East Jerusalem.

Israel captured East Jerusalem in the June 1967 War, annexed it, and has since built settlements there that are home to more than 200,000 Israelis. Control over the city has been seen as the most sensitive and thorniest issue of Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Palestinians hope to make East Jerusalem the capital of their future state but the Israel says the city is its eternal capital.

In September, the US-brokered peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians collapsed after Israel refused to extend a 10- month moratorium over freezing settlement constructions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

Over the past few weeks, eight Latin American countries as well as Russia, Cyprus and Surinam officially declared their recognition of establishing an independent Palestinian state.

The United States and Israel slammed the decisions saying they are counterproductive and damaging. The United States said that the Palestinian state should be a result of a negotiated solution with Israel.

Israel fears that Spain, Belgium, Ireland and Scandinavian countries are next in line to join the countries in recognizing an independent Palestinian state unilaterally.
