The new committees will carry in-depth studies on subjects referred to them by the general assembly. The tenure of the new committee chairmen will be for 12 months.

The house also discussed the draft free trade agreement between the GCC and Singapore and it sought more time to study the details of the agreement's 129 articles.

When the annual report of the Agricultural Development Fund was tabled, the house stressed that it is imperative that suitable measures should be adopted to recover the soft loans granted to farmers. The members also stressed that farmers should try to ensure rational use of water for irrigation purposes.

The house reviewed a report submitted by Shoura Vice Chairman Bandar Hajjar to explore new measures to have effective coordination between the Shoura Council and regional councils spread throughout the Kingdom.

On Monday, the council is expected to debate the draft bill on private companies that will be presented by the Financial Affairs and Energy Committee.

The council will review the annual report of the Ministry of Transport for the last fiscal year. The ministry’s plans and problems will be discussed on Monday.
