The heads of car repair workshops are also in the committees that have been set up to assess damage to cars.

Maj. Gen. Muhammad Al-Qarni, director of the Emergency Information Center, said the Civil Defense is still continuing to search for five missing people.

He added that the accommodation committees, consisting of representatives from the Civil Defense and the Ministry of Finance, have so far provided living space to 5,731 displaced families. “The accommodation operations were going on around the clock," he added.

Al-Qarni said Civil Defense teams from Jeddah, Makkah, Taif, Yanbu and Riyadh were still continuing with fieldwork two weeks after the rains. He also said the police are also operating in the flood-affected areas.

He pointed out the municipality and the National Water Company are continuing to pump out water which is still gathering in some districts. The water is from rain, and burst tanks and sewage pipes that mixed with underground water.

Al-Qarni said 15 Saudi Red Crescent units, equipped with 23 ambulances and two medical evacuation helicopters, are ready to deal with any emergencies, in addition to 20 medical teams from the Department of Health Affairs consisting of doctors, technicians, nurses, psychiatrists and social workers.

He also said the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is closely monitoring the city’s stores to ensure adequate supplies food items.
