After an administrative reshuffle and a welter of allegations and rumors concerning financial and other irregularities, Paul Hay and his wife Victoria are leaving the school. Victoria Hay took on the acting headship after her husband's contract was not renewed last September.

On Feb. 1, after what Arab News understands was a confrontation with the current school board, Victoria Hay tendered her resignation and will be leaving the school later in the year. Jack Walsh, who had been appointed acting deputy head, has also resigned.

A source close to the board said that Victoria Hay had threatened to resign and complain to the Ministry of Education about the board’s irresponsible behavior after the board refused to sign off the year’s accounts. This is the third time in a few years under Hay’s headship an incumbent school board had refused to authorize school accounts.

Khaled Al-Araabi Al-Harthi, director of foreign education at Education Department of Jeddah, Ministry of Education, has been liaising closely with the school for several months.

Arab News understands that on Saturday, the board will be announcing a new administrative structure.

An advertisement for a permanent deputy head teacher for JPGS “to start as soon as possible” was placed on the Times Educational Supplement website last month with Feb. 28 as the closing date for applications.

It is not known if there have been any applicants for the position, but several teachers from within the school are reported to have been jockeying for at least the temporary positions.
