“You have to continue your education. There are a lot of opportunities for you in India and elsewhere in the world,” the ambassador told girl students.

Addressing a graduation ceremony for Class XII students at International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) on Friday, Ahmad advised boys to deal with girl students with respect.

“Respecting women is an Indian culture,” the chief guest told the students and urged them to work for women's progress. “Women are not getting enough care and consideration. We should change this situation,” he said.

He took the young audience through a journey of his career in Saudi Arabia and asked them to pursue a career of their choice taking into consideration the changing global developments.

The ambassador's wife Sunita Ahmad, who was the guest of honor, also urged girl students to obtain higher levels of education like their male counterparts and take up careers of their choice. “You should not remain complacent with the minimum level of studies,” she told the girls.

The function was attended by M.S. Karimuddin, a member of the higher board, and other guests in addition to a large number of students, teachers and parents.  Karimuddin announced the plan to form an alumni of IISJ students.

The proceedings began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an followed by the welcome speech by the principal. The ambassador and his wife distributed certificates among the graduates amid thunderous applause. As many as 400 students in ceremonial gowns and hoods received the honors.
