Cricketers banned from tweeting during World Cup

BANGALORE: Players and staff have been banned from tweeting during games at the Cricket World Cup.
The sport's governing body wants to make sure illegal bookmakers do not use such information as betting guides.

The ban follows the recommendation of the anti-corruption unit of the International Cricket Council. Players and team staff have taken to airing their views on social networking sites.

Australia team manager Steve Bernard is known to be a regular tweeter during matches. The World Cup is being played in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It begins Saturday and ends April 2.
