"The GCC ministerial council declared its total support to Bahrain because GCC's security and stability is indivisible," Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmad Al-Khalifa told the Bahrain News Agency after the extraordinary meeting.

The ministers also reiterated the council's commitment to all joint defense and security agreements of the GCC.

Sheikh Khaled briefed the ministers about the latest developments in Bahrain over the past few days.

The meeting commended the efforts made by Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to achieve national solidarity and uphold the rule of law apart from freedom of expression.

The meeting also appreciated the king's decision to appoint a commission to investigate the cause of the tragic developments that led to the loss of lives.

The council also made it categorically clear that GCC would not accept any attempt by outside elements to interfere with the affairs of Bahrain.

It said any attempt to disturb the security and stability of Bahrain amounted to violating the stability of the GCC.

In his statement, Sheikh Khaled expressed his sorrow over the loss of life in Manama. He also called on people to preserve the achievements of Bahrain including its economic status, which it achieved through the reforms launched by King Hamad, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday.
