- KHOST, Afghanistan: A suicide car bomb attack on a police checkpoint in eastern Afghanistan on Friday morning killed at least nine people and wounded 30, said Abdul Hakim Esaaqzai, chief of police for Khost province.
The attack, at a checkpoint at the start of the main road to neighboring Paktia province, killed seven civilians — two women and five men — and two members of the security forces, Esaaqzai said. No further details were immediately available.
