- JEDDAH: Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal, chairman of the board of trustees of the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation, which is vice chaired by his wife Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, has donated more than 10,000 household items to aid people affected by the recent floods in Jeddah.
The donation was made to ease the suffering of 3,500 needy families who have been affected by the floods this year. The donation was made following an extensive study to determine how best to meet the needs of those affected and define the appropriate number of items to buy and distribute.
Donated items include 4,200 air conditioners, 1,384 washing machines, 2,078 cookers, 2,444 refrigerators and 628 carpets that were purchased from Al-Jafali group and distributed by 300 volunteers.
“The people of Jeddah are very dear to our hearts, and their support by the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation is a duty,” said Prince Alwaleed.
“We are very proud to help the reconstruction effort and help the people of Jeddah in their hour of need,” said Muna Abu Sulayman, secretary general of the Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation.
The aid was distributed in coordination with Al-Birr Association, Al-Faisaliya Women's Charity, Alahya Centers, the Women’s Charity Association Almustawda’ Alkahiri and the World Assembly of Muslim Youth.
