There are also groups of men and women volunteers to rescue people during calamities such as the recent floods in Jeddah.

However, there is a dire need for a national welfare society to fight  corruption by the “sharks” of our society. As the saying goes — the prevention is better than the cure.

We are in need of honest citizens uniting in a single society or association to uncover corruption in all its forms whether administrative, financial or other. Society should lay bare corruption with evidence, including documents and pictures, no matter who is responsible for it.

The proposed National Society to Combat Corruption should comprise honest and qualified citizens, a committee of lawyers to file lawsuits against those responsible for graft.

Citizens who work in municipalities should expose the real estate crimes of these sharks. They should also uncover the tenders that are subtracted and reveal who has approved them.

Those who work in the health sector should uncover the private establishments that run public hospitals, their medical mistakes and bribes accepted by drug companies. The contractors who turn the costs of projects from millions of Saudi riyals into billions should also be exposed and brought to justice.

We should also have documents about some government departments that have become private family businesses run by the relatives and in-laws of directors and senior officials.

Society should also examine the reasons why some establishments refuse to raise salaries of their employees and pensions of their retirees to be able to face the rising cost of living imposed on us by the sharks! I appeal to you to support the creation of this society of which I am ready to be the first member.
