“The crime occurred at around 10 p.m. The victim informed the police that somebody had broken into his car and stolen cash and a spare tire,” said Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah police.

Meanwhile, two Yemeni nationals in their 20s were arrested in the downtown Balad area for stealing a collection of perfumes worth SR12,000 from a Saudi street vendor.

“The two men were arrested after investigations. They have admitted to stealing the goods and are in prison. Both suspects are illegal overstayers and have no IDs with them,” said Al-Juaid.

In another incident, a 31-year-old Yemeni was arrested in the Al-Sharafiyah district for breaking into the home of an Egyptian and stealing SR4,000 worth of jewelry.

“The crime occurred late in the evening when the Egyptian and his family were out. On arrival, the Egyptian noticed that his house had been burgled and contacted the police,” said Al-Juaid.

Investigators arrested the suspect after his fingerprints were found to match those at the scene of the crime.
