According to the Civil Defense, the two brothers got caught in the floods in an area between Al-Sail Al-Kabeer and Al-Sail Al-Sagheer and all attempts to save them failed.

The Civil Defense said the rains in Taif also caused a number of traffic accidents, killing a man and injuring six others.

Saeed Al-Zahrani, spokesman of the health affairs department, said the victims were rushed to hospital. He asked drivers to be careful while driving in the rain.

The rains caused many valleys in the villages and hamlets around Taif to flood, covering many streets in water.

According to the local department of education, a number of schools in the northern areas of the region were closed Tuesday because students were unable to travel.

In the village of Al-Qaha, teachers were unable to reach their schools. The department of education asked them to sign in at its office.

Students and teachers were also unable to reach their schools in various villages of Al-Laith because of the floods.

Teachers going to Al-Laith from Makkah and Jeddah were asked by security forces to go back as they would not be able to cross the valleys.
