Amjad Obeid, general secretary of PWS, conducted the program. He stressed the organization’s social activities in various fields that were beneficial to the Pakistani community. He also gave a brief history of PWS’ activities in his welcome address.

An informative lecture on the importance and function of the liver was delivered by Dr. Syed Ghazanfar Naqvi. He, with the help of slides, spoke about the diseases afflicting the organ, including hepatitis, and also the remedial measures.

A tableau was presented by the children of Al-Iqbal International School (Azizia, Jeddah) on Allama Iqbal's famous poem “Lab Pay Ati Hai Dua Ban K Tamanna Meri”.

Pakistan Consul General Abdul Salik Khan was the chief guest. Other guests of honor were Azad Iqbal and Welfare Counselor Nasrullah Watto. The consul general along with Ch. Yousuf (Pakistan Investment Forum) presented gifts to children and awards to teachers of the school.

Khan said that the PWS has been doing a remarkable job since May 2006 by helping needy Pakistanis. He said free medical camps have also been started in other Saudi cities and more and more people are being inspired by the social activities of the organization.

He lauded both the embassy and the consulate general for their continuous cooperation.

Mohammad Nawaz Janjua recited Iqbal's famous poem “Sitaroon Say Agay Jahan Aur Bhi Hain” to inspire people to be courageous in their intentions regarding service to the community.

The society’s yearly activities were outlined by PWS Joint Secretary Sarmad Saleem, especially the free medical camps, career planning seminars, women health seminars and medical screening of students.

PWS President Khalil-ur-Rahman thanked all the guests, donors and volunteers for their support.
