The Assembly was adjourned late Monday after the house witnessed unruly scenes. On Tuesday the issue was raised again by Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse and his party colleague Devendra Fadnavis who alleged that Deshbhratar was suspended as he had sought permission of the Maharashtra government to furnish information against Hasan Ali in the ongoing litigation in the Supreme Court and wanted to file and intervention appeal in the apex court. The BJP leaders alleged that the police officer was being gagged to protect Ali.

Deshbhratar in his application to the state government said that as he had supervised Hasan Ali’s fake passport case in 2008 and in the interest of the nation he wanted to intervene in the Hasan Ali case in the Supreme Court. Deshbhratar claimed that he had statement from Hasan Ali regarding $8 million black money stashed in Swiss banks, but he did not receive favorable response from the government. The police office who was then DCPT (Zone III) in 2008 had interrogated Hasan Ali and also taped the interrogation.
