- JEDDAH: Under the aegis of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, the second annual conference on higher education will kick off at Riyadh Exhibitions in Riyadh on Tuesday.
- The conference is scheduled to last for four days.
Both women and men are allowed in at the same time. A number of universities will have booths at the exhibition.
The conference and accompanying exhibition, entitled “the Union of International Leading Universities,” is organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and is expected to host 372 universities from 34 countries. Sixteen specialists in higher education will participate in the event.
Sixty-five of the universities attending the event have been chosen as the 100 best universities in the world.
Last year the same conference attracted over 250,000 visitors. It facilitated the signing of over 45 university-cooperation agreements.
This year participants include the coordinator of the World Bank's network of tertiary education professionals, Jamil Salmi, Center for International Higher Education Director Philip Altbach and National Autonomous University of Mexico Dean Kozee Robels, among others.
The conference aims at providing a better opportunity for locals in the higher education sector.
The ministry hopes the event would increase awareness about higher education issues and provide an opportunity for individual and educational establishments to benefit from international experiences.
