The New Zealand player smashed three sixes and four fours off 33 balls as the Kochi team easily got to its target of 135 under the Duckworth-Lewis system in a rain-shortened match of 17 overs.

Left-hander Parthiv Patel (34) was the other main scorer as Kochi made it home with two overs to spare.

Earlier, Suresh Raina struck a brisk 50 to help Chennai score 131-4.

Meanwhile, Shane Warne, the best captain that Australia never had, is also a spinner the team still misses.

At the age of 41, Warne has shown in the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League that he can dominate batsmen and make breakthroughs regularly, something that his replacements in the Australia team can't seem to match.

Australia has the likes of Jason Krejza, Xavier Doherty and Steven Smith in the spin department, which was seen as the weak link during a World Cup campaign that ended in the quarterfinals.

Warne has been among the wickets in the IPL, and is joint-third on the wicket-takers' list in 2011 with five.

Even new Australia captain Michael Clarke admits Warne is still missed four years after retirement.
