Inaugurating the first ever Information Quality Forum, Al-Gosaibi stressed the importance of expanding the dissemination of information and statistical data to help decision-makers in the public and private sectors. He added that the Eighth Development Plan includes programs to provide a large transparent databank of information available freely.

The forum, sponsored by the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), was also attended by its Secretary General Hussein Al-Athel and Saud H. Al-Sehali, executive assistant secretary general of RCCI.

The participants included executives who deal with data and information in various government as well as non-governmental organizations.

The minister pointed out that the Kingdom's entry into the World Trade Organization has brought the country into the limelight and countries are keen to obtain the relevant information to conduct business and invest in Saudi Arabia.

"It’s our duty to supply them with accurate information and data both online and through other channels," Al-Gosaibi said.

"The forum was arranged by the RCCI to inform the members of the private sector of the importance of transparency in their business activities," Al-Athel added.

Al-Athel pointed out that economic and social information, especially data related to education and health, play an effective role in developing the Kingdom's economy.

"Transparency is another vital aspect that should be strictly followed by all sectors in order to portray a clear vision of their ventures."

Al-Sehali said RCCI maintains a large databank on economic and social information for members of the public and private sectors. Those interested are free to access this information with RCCI's help, he concluded.
