- JEDDAH: Saudi artist Fatima Ba-Azeem launched a monthlong tea exhibition at The Shop boutique in Jeddah’s Rawdah district.
- The theme of the exhibition is “tea in all its variations” explained Ba-Azeem who used dried tea leaves and tea bags in making the paintings.
One of her paintings shows teabags with chestnuts. Another painting includes bills, which Ba-Azeem explained is because people tend to associate tea with doing their home finances. She includes herbal teas. Ba-Azeem applied tea mixtures to the walls of the hall where she is displaying her collection. Though coffee means a lot to many people Ba-Azeem said tea is something special to her “Tea symbolizes my social life, and it is also something that I use a lot as a background for my paintings. So I decided to allocate a special collection for it.” Ba-Azeem has included 70 works in her exhibition and has been able to sell 15 of them.
