- ISLAMABAD: The Karachi-based Muttehida Qaumi Movement (MQM) presented deweaponization bill before the National Assembly on Tuesday.
- The bill was not opposed by the government and has been sent to the standing committee of the National Assembly.
The bill calls for a countrywide ban on the manufacturing, possession and illegal use of weapons. A deputy of the MQM Wasim Akhtar told Arab News, “Our bill is meant to clean all the cities of Pakistan from prohibited bore weapons.
He further said, “We have put forward strong arguments that licensed and unlicensed weapons be confiscated by the government to curb growing criminality.”
