- MAKKAH: Residents of a village 25 kilometers from Makkah are in shock after three members of the same family lost their lives over a land ownership dispute.
One of the victims in Al-Hamimah village killed himself after members of a land encroachment committee arrived at his home with orders to demolish his courtyard.
He went inside his house, brought a gallon of benzene, poured the content on his body and set himself aflame after officials refused to pay any attention to his threats to commit suicide. He died two days later in hospital.
His son then suspected his uncle of tipping off the committee and shot him dead before turning the gun on himself.
