Many manholes in the district lie uncovered, something that worries local residents. Most of the manholes are dry, but some have sewage water running.

The uncovered manholes have also caused problems for vehicles that often get stuck in them. Some of them are big enough to trap even a truck wheel.

Al-Muttaqeen Street, which runs adjacent to King Abdullah Road, has many uncovered manholes. Even that part of King Abdullah Road has uncovered manholes.

Muhammad Al-Zahrani, a Saudi, said the manholes have left parents rather worried. He added that this is a particular problem in the morning when children go to school just after dawn prayers.

Faisal, an Indian national, said he saved an old man who had fallen into a manhole. The man was on his regular morning walk and fell into the hole probably due to poor sight.

Building caretakers have put pieces of wood, sticks, sacks and other crude things close to  the holes to warn drivers about the potential hazards. Locals are hoping the municipality takes note and covers the manholes.
