The gathering, entitled the Saudi-Jordanian Engineering Forum, is sponsored by the Jordanian Engineers Association (JEA) and the Saudi Engineering Authority (SEA).

Opening the meeting, Jordanian Minister of Public Works and Housing Yahia Kasbi underscored the importance of “making benefit from regional and international expertise in advancing the engineering profession in the two countries which plays a key role in the development process.”

He said that the Jordanian government “will utilize the outcome of the meeting in creating real partnerships and realistic cooperation formulas that will reflect positively on the economies of the two countries.”

Saudi Engineering Authority Chairman Abdullah Baqshan also addressed the audience and said that “development experts are well aware of the vital and important role of the engineering profession in the progress and prosperity of nations.”

He pointed out that the discussion during the workshop would focus on a number of issues, including consultative work, the formation of coalition between engineering offices in the two countries, professional classification, training, green buildings, sustainable development and investments.

Head of the Jordan Engineers Association Abdullah Obeidat pointed out that the Saudi contracting sector now employs about 10,000 Jordanian engineers, which refers to the huge potential of bilateral cooperation in the field of engineering.
