Director General of Saudi Customs Saleh Al-Khelaiwi, who is also head of the King Fahd Causeway Authority (KFCA), said a project to set up a joint single customs stop for both Saudi Arabia and Bahrain is being implemented.

Customs offices of both the countries will establish an electronic link so that all official papers could be dispensed with and the required data could be available online. The Saudi side, which has made all preparations for the implementation of the system, is now waiting for Bahrain to complete them, a daily reported on Friday.

The KFCA is also currently working on a project called Two Islands outside the borders of the causeway. The work will start next year and will be completed in three years. After the completion of studies and designs, the location of the project on the Saudi and Bahraini sides will be decided. After that the project will be ready for bids, he said.
