“The visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak to the Kingdom on Friday will further strengthen this partnership and boost bilateral links in different fields, including politics and economy,” said Malaysian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Syed Omar M. Al-Saggaff.

Al-Saggaff said Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah would hold talks with Razak and discuss ways to promote substantive cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including trade, technology and energy.

“Hence a range of regional issues and matters of international concern will also be taken up for discussion by King Abdullah and the Malaysian premier,” said the Malaysian envoy, adding that the visit is significant keeping in view the support extended by Kuala Lumpur, especially on the GCC's initiative for Yemen and to Riyadh on the issue of Bahrain.

He said that Malaysia has been supporting the actions of Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries toward achieving peace, reconciliation and long-term stability in Bahrain, Yemen and the region as a whole. “We fully back all sovereign decisions taken by our GCC allies,” he said.

He also noted that Malaysia and Saudi Arabia recently signed a security pact geared toward stopping terrorism and fighting organized crime. Razak will travel from Riyadh to Qatar on May 14 for a two-day official visit.
