- JEDDAH: Jeddah municipality’s Abattoirs and Fish Markets Administration seized on Sunday seafood from the fish market deemed unsuitable for human consumption.
“The municipality seized 1,894 kg of inedible fish being sold outside the market. Over 350 kg of vegetables and fruits were also confiscated and later given to charities after it was confirmed that they were suitable for consumption,” said Nasser Al-Jarallah, director of the administration.
Al-Jarallah said under a new initiative, the municipality last month conducted more inspections at the downtown fish market to fine violators of food hygiene regulations.
