“According to ANS’ Head Vice-Consul Roussel R. Reyes, there is no special deportation section arrangement with the host government for undocumented mothers with children,” Migrante International-Middle East Regional Coordinator John Leonard Monterona told Arab News on Monday.

Monterona had earlier called Labor Attache Albert Q. Valenciano of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) regarding the cases of two undocumented Filipino women with children, who had told him the opposite.

Valenciano said Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) should use the so-called Special Deportation Section under the ANS, as they could not be accommodated at the Bahay Kalinga (BK), the government facility where stranded female OFWs stay while waiting for deportation.

The ANS, however, denies the existence of such a section.

Valencino added that there were more than 100 undocumented mothers and children in Riyadh who could not be admitted to the BK.

Monterona said both OFWs had earlier met with Vice President Jejomar Binay when he visited the Kingdom on April 1. They appealed to Binay to help them regarding their repatriation.

Until now, both women and their children are waiting for endorsement for admission to the BK.

“Without written endorsement, they cannot be admitted to the BK, but the POLO and ANS are pointing at each other to make the endorsement,” Monterona said.
