“The airport administration has been striving to make the airport totally free from smoking. The administration has been implementing the ban effectively with the help of the airport security,” he said.

Al-Tasan added that an average of four to five violations were being caught daily. Calling on all travelers to cooperate in making the airport smoke-free, Al-Tasan said violators were punished with fines.

The General Authority of Civil Aviation has fixed a fine of SR200 for violating the smoking ban. The Directorate of Airports is closely following the success of the implementation of the ban at all airports and the number of violations is gradually declining, a source said.
