Geethu Anna Jose was the first player from her country to be invited to WNBA tryouts. During a recent US tour she tried out for the Chicago Sky, Los Angeles Sparks and San Antonio Silver Stars.

Spokesmen for all three teams confirmed Monday that the 6-foot-2 Jose hasn’t been invited back for preseason training camp.

Sparks spokesman Ben Alkaly says coaches were impressed with Jose’s fundamentals but the team’s roster already had a lot of forward.

Geethu told The Associated Press before the tryouts that playing for the WNBA would fulfill her lifelong dream. The 25-year-old didn’t immediately respond Monday to a request for comment.

Jose, who also played professionally in Australia, hails from the southern Indian state of Kerala.
