- CANNES: Spanish actor Antonio Banderas says working with Pedro Almodovar in the director's latest film, "The Skin I Live In," was "like coming home." Banderas was an early muse of the acclaimed Spanish filmmaker, playing a boy-toy in "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown" (1988) and a toreador in training in "Matador" (1986).
But the actor has made most of his career in Hollywood, and it's been 22 years since he worked with Almodovar. In "The Skin" he plays a psychotic plastic surgeon obsessed with exacting revenge on his daughter's rapist. Banderas described his return to the Almodovar fold as "a homecoming." The movie screened Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival, where it's competing for the Palme d'Or top prize.
