- RIYADH: Participants in the Social Responsibility Exhibition 2011 on Monday spoke of the need to boost and employ both the concept and culture of social responsibility in the sustained development and social services of the Kingdom.
Secretary-General of the Riyadh Social Responsibility Council Askar Al-Harithy, who is also chairman of the committee for social responsibility in the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), said the RCCI has participated in various social responsibility programs for 50 years. A case in point was the founding of the Sick People's Friendship Society, established 25 years ago.
"With its vast experience the chamber took up a lead position in spreading the culture of social responsibility in the country when the concept was rather unknown," Al-Harithy said. He also stressed the need for businessmen to pay more attention to social issues.
Chairman of the Saudi Research and Marketing Group Prince Faisal bin Salman opened the exhibition in Riyadh on Sunday.
