“These 57 Filipinos brought to 400 the total number of OFWs at the Haj Terminal who had been repatriated by the Consulate General in Jeddah,” according to Consul General Ezzedin H. Tago.

Tago, who is also the chargé d’affaires at the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, added that 100 more OFWs were picked up at the Haj Terminal and brought to the deportation center in preparation for repatriation on May 29.

He added that currently some 600 more OFWs are waiting at the terminal to be cleared by Saudi authorities for repatriation.

A statement from the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines said that 20 more OFWs have been booked between May 23 and June 1.

Last week, the consulate repatriated 165 OFWs who went beyond their authorized period of stay and underwent processing at the Saudi Deportation Center.
