- JEDDAH: A driver of a money truck and his assistant working for a local bank have confessed to embezzling more than SR500,000 from the funds given to them to replenish automatic teller machines in various parts of Jeddah, police spokesman Misfar Al-Juaid announced Wednesday.
He did not identify the two criminals but said they initially denied the charges. However, when confronted with solid evidence, they confessed to their crime. Al-Juaid did not name the bank but said one of its employees noticed cash was missing and immediately accused the driver and his assistant of the embezzlement.
Al-Juaid said the two were being investigated prior to handing them over to the Prosecution and Investigation Commission for further questioning before they were taken to court.
