- JEDDAH: The Jeddah branch of the National Society for Human Rights (NSHR) is currently striving to get a 90-year-old prisoner suffering from Alzheimer’s disease out of prison.
He was jailed years ago for not repaying a loan of SR300,000. The NSHR efforts resulted in his transfer to King Fahd Hospital. The NSHR is also trying to find a philanthropist who could donate the amount needed for repayment of the debt. Two weeks ago, the NSHR branch worked for the release of a Saudi woman prisoner affected by AIDS.
