In his welcome speech, Saleh Attia, consul general of Algeria and dean of the African Group of Consuls General, said: “Africa is now well integrated as a continent to play an effective role not only in its own affairs but in world affairs as well.” Referring to this year’s theme “Accelerating youth empowerment for sustainable development,” he added that the strength of Africa lies in its youth, which constitutes the essential basis for the global revival of the continent. He termed the Saudi-Africa relations as excellent and strong.

Attia urged Saudi businessmen in particular and Gulf investors in general to take advantage of the vast investment potential available in Africa. “Come and invest in Africa, an ideal home for human and natural resources,” he said.

Tayeb extended the Kingdom’s greetings to Africa and said the Saudi-Africa relations were progressing from strength to strength.

The IDB president highlighted the importance of cooperation between his institution and African countries, where the IDB funds were contributing to their development.

The guests were treated to varieties of dishes from the African continent and an exhibition of traditional handicrafts.
