The meeting attended by Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani was also attended by Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari, leader of the house in Senate, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Minister for Commerce, Chaudhary Ahmad Mukhtar, Minister for Defense, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Minister for  Religious Affairs, Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for water & Power, Sen. Babar Awan, Sen. Jahangir Badar,  Nazar Mohammed Gondal, Raja Pervaz Ashraf, Rukhsana Bangash,  Fauzia Habib, Sen. Faisal Raza Abidi, Sen. Sardar Ali Khan, Ms Mehreen Anwar  Raja and spokesman to the President Farhatullah Babar.

Briefing the media, Farhatullah Babar said that the meeting appreciated the decision taken by Sindh government to take stern action against all extortionists and criminal elements in different parts of Karachi. The meeting extended full support of the party and the federal government to the provincial government in restoring law and order in Karachi.

The spokesman said that the meeting also appealed all political parties and general public to support the provincial government in maintaining law and order in Karachi and restoring normalcy to the city.

During the meeting the President also called the chief minister of Sindh to assure him of the full support of his party and the government in dealing firmly with the criminal elements in all parts of the city that are affected by violence and lawlessness.

Zardari also discussed the Karachi situation with Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali Khan.

Farhatullah Babar said that the chief minister informed the president that it had been decided to set up an operation room in the Karachi to keep an eye on incidents of lawlessness in the city, monitor the action taken against the criminals and provide relief to the victims of ongoing violence.
