In a report Wednesday, Amnesty International accuses Bangladesh’s special anti-crime force Rapid Action Battalion of killing hundreds of people without trial. It also accuses the country’s regular police force and its coast guard of extrajudicial killings.

Amnesty says Rapid Action Battalion has killed 200 suspects since January 2009. The battalion’s spokesman was not immediately available for comment, but in the past the force has called such reports baseless, saying such killings usually occur during gunfights with the suspects.

Amnesty also is urging countries that send arms to Bangladesh’s forces to halt supplies.
